Oyster Creek and Taylors Oysters

Posted on December 3, 2009
Taylors Shell fish ( formally the Rock Point Oyster farm) has been cultivating and harvesting fabulous oysters for over 116 years.  There is a hairpin turn at the souther end of the sinuous portion of Chuckanut drive ( arguably the most beautiful Salt water view drive in the state of Washington).  This Business is unique and a treasure for the citizens of Whatcom and Skagit County.
A visitor can drive directly to the "shucking and processing house"  on the dock.  You can walk around and see all the various aspects of the operation and buy wholesale fresh oysters, Dungeness Crabs ( alive in a tank) clams, and shucking knives.  They will ship around the world.  I have on many occasions bought  6 dozen oysters (they often add a 7th dozen for good measure)  in a flow through net bag right out of the bay water. take them to a pot luck barbeque and been a hero as the  succulent morsels pop open and we dip them in garlic butter and eat them from their hot shells.
   What a treat. Yum!
